Long Weekends = Gatherings = Noise

ree

The last long weekend of the summer is here! While long weekends often bring gatherings and celebrations, they can also lead to noise. So, what’s a tenant to do?

Imagine finishing your bedtime routine, climbing into bed, and closing your eyes—only to be kept awake by music from a neighbouring unit. The walls and floors seem to shake, and you wonder, “Even if I knock, will they hear me?”

  • Start with your Property Manager: While we’d love for neighbours to resolve things respectfully, let us be the “bad cop.” We’re here to help.

  • After-hours concerns: If noise persists outside of office hours, we recommend contacting your city’s bylaw office and requesting attendance.

  • Document the issue: Send an email to your Property Manager or Building Manager with the date, time, and nature of the concern. We will follow up confidentially with the tenant involved.

  • Ongoing disturbances: If the issue continues, keep a record—including when you’ve contacted bylaw—and share it with your Manager. This allows us to issue an official notice to the tenant, advising that they are interfering with the reasonable enjoyment of others.
